May Journal

Updated: Jan 21

The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, the world is green again!

Now that it is May the cold rainy days are far behind us. To kick off the warm weather we took a drive over to Door County to see the cherry blossoms. This is our first spring in Wisconsin and I was excited to experience the fabled blossom celebration!

I have approximately 1,000 photos of flowers on my phone. I have come to realize that it is impossible to not take 100 pictures of that one tulip blooming in your yard. Sorry to whoever has to sort through my pictures when I'm gone and I hope you like flowers!

Also, shout out to my husband Todd who is willingly learning to take photos for me. Honestly, I couldn't be more grateful!

I honestly can't remember the name of this orchard in Door County because we just saw it on the side of the road and pulled it! It was completely serendipitous. We hope to return again in July to pick the cherries off of these beautiful trees to make some pies and jellies! The breed of cherry grown in Wisconsin is best for cooking and preserving since they are a tart variety. I have been told that for some reason sweet snacking cherries just don't do well!

Can you even believe how many dandelions there are in these photos? When I first started noticing them pop up in fields I was completely mesmerized by the seas of yellow! I had a great time running through these orchards.

1. Bike rides at sunset. It's truly magical seeing the golden light dancing through the leaves and peeking in at the lives of the little birds and animals I see along the trail.

2. Sitting on the porch to work. Since the weather is so nice I have moved my "office" outside to the front porch. It's so delightful to have that warm breeze on my skin.

3. The smell of honeysuckle! When the breeze catches those little blooms just right. Oh, man.
