March Journal

March was the busiest month for me since December. I was really grateful to have had the first two months of the year to recuperate after such a busy 2021.

The beginning of the month started with me having a few days to myself while Todd traveled back to his home state of Arizona. While he was gone I spent a lot of time going on walks, drawing, painting, bird watching, and catching up on T.V. shows I don't normally watch when we are together. I am not a big T.V. watcher in the first place, so it takes a special occasion to watch things that only I want to watch. Are you a T.V watcher?

Todd arrived home, recharged from the Arizona sunshine, just in time for me to leave for 7 days on a trip to Wisconsin. Unfortunately, for Todd, the same week that I left was the week that Oregon had rainstorms everyday. If you've ever met anyone from Arizona you know how they feel about a cloudy day.

I got to fly to Wisconsin with my sister and niece, we were going on a 'girls trip' to celebrate my youngest sister's Golden Birthday. I spent most of my mornings doing an hour or two of work before driving to my Grandparent's house to spend the rest of the morning and early afternoon with them. My grandma made egg salad sandwiches and I made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. We watched my sister and niece play outside from the window over the kitchen sink. I already have it on my to-do list to make an illustration or two based on this memory.

When I arrived back home in Oregon the trees were in full bloom. Big, pink, pillowy flowers on seemingly every tree! I grew up in many different places, Oregon is the first place that I feel has a 'true' Spring. The grass really is the same color as Pantone's Spring Green. And there really are blossoms blowing in the wind! It is a real treat after having to endure a dark and wet winter. I quite literally feel heart sick that this is our last Spring here.

In work related news, I helped create sticker labels for Better Things Candle Co. new Travel Series. I finally got a set of the candles in the mail! There are three scents based on cities around the world.

-London

-Marrakesh

-Maui

London smells like fresh rain in a garden. If you close your eyes you'll become a character in a Jane Austen novel. 10/10 best candle.

Marrakesh smells like a flower market, sweet and uplifting! Orange blossoms, fig, saffron, and mint make up the scent.

Maui. Basically summer in a candle. Coconuts by the beach & sunshine. You can practically feel the sand between your toes.

If you want to buy the set you can find them here! Otherwise they are sold individually!

Three Things I Enjoyed This Month:

- This podcast episode of Stuff You Should Know on How Light Pollution Works Lots of good thoughts here!

- The Honeycomb cookie from Crumbl. 10/10

- The Lost City starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt, and Daniel Radcliffe. I love romantic comedies and was excited to see one that had the whole audience laughing.
